A Saudi court has rescinded the beheading sentence of a man convicted of murdering three Asian housemaids in the Kingdom, and replaced the sentence with an order of death by crucifixion.

A serial killer identified only as Awdhah is to be crucified on charges of murder, rape and adultery, according to Emirates 247. It was reported The court ordered the implementation of the sentence as soon as possible to serve as a deterrent to others.

The killer, who was previously imprisoned for beating up his wife and children, confessed to the murders and rapes two years ago. In each case he first lured the housemaids into his company before raping them, dismembering their bodies and disposing of them by burying them. He even attempted to rape his third victim in his own home while his wife and children were in another room, according to a report from Emirates 247.

According to a report from Amnesty International those sentenced to crucifixion in Saudi Arabia are beheaded first and then their heads are sewn back on their bodies.

A Saudi court has ordered the crucifixion of a man convicted of raping three Asian housemaids before murdering them in the Gulf Kingdom.

The court in the western port of Yanbu cancelled a previous verdict to behead the defendant, identified only as Awdah, and sentenced him to crucifixion on charges of murder, rape and adultery.

The court ordered the implementation of the sentence as soon as possible to serve as a deterrent to others, Sharq Arabic language newspaper said, adding that the defendant objected to the verdict and decided to appeal.

Awdah was arrested more than two years ago after confessing to murdering the three maids and dismembering them before dumping their bodies in remote areas. He was also jailed before the murders were discovered on charges of beating up his wife and children.
